Umuganda

Since the 11th century, in Rwanda, every last Saturday of the month, communities came together to build, clean and plant. The film explores the philosophy behind this nationally practice, tracing its roots from pre-colonial traditions to its role in healing the nation after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. And the quiet relationship between community, labor, memory, and self-reliance. A practice lived not as an obligation, but as a cultural expression that teaches responsibility, belonging, and shared humanity.
