and to Brazil’s Warrior Women (Paul Redman | United Kingdom) because it shows the leading role of women (the Babaçu breakers) and a movement that, through the struggle of these women, became very important, in addition to presenting us with several uses of babaçu nut, a precious asset in that region capable of bringing dignity to the lives of those women.

and to Virunga (Orlando von Einsiedel | United Kingdom) because the film has all the elements of an action film, dramatic, emotional, beautiful. A plot of international intrigue, power play, brutal violence. But it is a true story, which can only be told by the courage of characters who face these forces. We identify with the innocent victims of this conflict - we are the gorillas, we are the Congolese expelled from their land. Other Activities

At Naves of Penha and of Complexo do Alemão directors participated in Q&As.

Exhibitions for students of public schools in the municipality, in partnership with the Department of Education of the municipality program Cineclube nas Escolas (Cineclub at Schools). All exhibitions took place during the week (three sessions per day) at the Museu do Meio Ambiente (Environment Museum). More than 400 children and young people visited the Museum – and in two of these sessions they were also able to talk with the filmmakers (George Augusto, director of the short film Vai que é tua Tafarinha and Ricardo Gomes, director of the feature Mar Urbano).

Panel From Garden to Table Without Leaving the City, supported by Swissnex. Coordinated by Carol Sá, from SlowFood Rio Zona Norte and with the participation of Roman Gaus, Swiss creator of Urban Farmers and one of the world leaders of the movement, and Renata Souto, agronomist, who works in the Urban Agriculture Program of AS-PTA and in the Articulation of Agroecology of Rio de Janeiro.

Workshop Food: Total Use, carried out by the Slow Food Rio Zona Norte group, which showed children and mothers/grandparents how to avoid waste, held at two Naves do Conhecimento: Triagem and Padre Miguel.
