On the Edge of Gold

The Tapajós River region is the largest producer of gold in Brazil. However, the exploitation often occurs in an illegal and predatory manner, without adequate working safety conditions, and poses a significant threat to the environment. Gold miners, merchants, teachers, or call girls from various states and cities in the country find themselves in this region in search of money. In Penedo, a small village formed next to the mining camp, various types of violence are completely naturalised. However, despite the precarious living conditions, there is room for dreaming of better days.
