Filmmaker, photographer and reporter, born in São Paulo in 1942. He studied at the University of Brasília (1964-65) and at the Ulm School of Design in Germany. He photographed numerous feature films between 1968 and 1974 before making his directorial debut in 1971 with Caminhos de Valderez, which he co-directed with Hermano Penna. His first feature film, Iracema: uma transa amazônica (1974), co-directed with Orlando Senna, was censored in Brazil until 1981. After Iracema, he directed numerous television series and films, such as Gitirana (1975, also with Orlando Senna), Jari (1979, co-directed with Wolf Gauer), Era uma vez Iracema (2005) and Amazônia, a nova Minamata? (2022), screened and awarded at the 13th Filmambiente.
Born in Belém in 1978. She holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from UFPA and a degree in Communication from Unama. She is a documentary filmmaker and a PhD candidate in post-colonialism at the University of Coimbra, where she conducts research on imperialism, eugenics and development. She has filmed in all conflict zones in the Brazilian Amazon. She is the coordinator of the Escola Livre de Cinema da Amazônia, a project that provides free education to independent producers and university students in northern Brazil. She was a music producer for over 10 years. Her film No More History Without Us was awarded best editing at the 13th Filmambiente
Jalena Keane-Lee is a filmmaker who explores intergenerational trauma and healing through an intersectional lens. She was named one of DOC NYC’s 2024 40 Under 40 Filmmakers to Watch, a 2023 Adobe x Sundance Woman to Watch, and co-founded Breaktide, an all-women-of-color video production company that has created campaigns for clients like Nike, LinkedIn and THINX. Jalena’s first feature-length documentary “Standing Above the Clouds” premiered at HotDocs in 2024 where it won Best Social Impact Documentary and the Best Cinematography Award at the 13th Filmambiente.

She also participated in O Quatrilho, by Fábio Barreto, a Brazilian contender for the International Film 1996 Oscar, Amor e Cia, by Helvécio Ratton, Zuzu Angels, by Sérgio Rezende, among others, and in countless series and soap operas, such as O Rebu, O Rei do Gado, Carga Pesada, Cabocla, A favorita, Passione, all on TV Globo.

He distributes works by awarded Brazilian directors, such as Nelson Pereira dos Santos, Walter Salles, Eduardo Coutinho, Helena Solberg, Sandra Kogut, Karim Aïnouz, Sérgio Machado, Flávia Castro, Izabel Jaguaribe, Marina Person, Ricardo Calil, Renato Terra, Heitor Dhalia and Marcelo Gomes, with films that have participate at major festivals as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, IDFA, HotDocs, Gramado, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Her research and projects are permeated by the theme of agribusiness, where she seeks to shed light on the relationships between agriculture and the cultural industry.

A screenwriter and producer based in central Brazil, she coordinates the SAPI Market and created the CORA Award. She has produced 5 feature films that have been shown at major festivals such as the Guadalajara Festival, Berlin FF and Gramado (Brazil). She is a mentor for audiovisual projects under development and the creator of audiovisual education initiatives for children and adolescents, such as Cine Arandu. A partner at Sol a Pino Filmes, she develops narratives centered on women, such as her first documentary feature “Piedade para esta terra que me sonega o amor” and “Solina”, a film written and directed by Larissa Fernandes. Her short film “Cabeça de Fogo” received the award for best film from the popular jury at the 13th Filmambiente.
Akhil Lotlikar is an award-winning director, producer, and screenwriter. An engineer turned filmmaker and a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, his work has been recognised at international film festivals. His film Odh (Pull) won Best Film (CMOT) at the 2023 International Film Festival of India, among other acclaimed titles in his growing body of work. He won Best Director at the 13th Filmambiente
He graduated from the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ and is an animation director. He has made fourteen short films (Eu Queria Ser Um Monstro, Engolervilha, O Anão Que Virou Gigante, Até a China, and others) and has participated in over three hundred animations for advertising, TV, and cinema. He was the founding president of ABCA (Brazilian Association of Animated Cinema), a professor in the postgraduate course in animation at PUC (Catholic University in Rio) for seven years, and since 2003 he has been one of the coordinators of the International Animation Day and managing partner of the production company Marão Desenhos Animados. His short films have been selected for 691 film festivals in over forty countries and have received 131 awards. Marão was honored at the 20th Anima Mundi and has also received retrospectives at the festivals Baixada Animada, Iguacine, Animanima (Serbia), ReAnimania (Armenia), Anima BR (Angola), and Animage (PE). Bizarros Peixes das Fossas Abissais (Bizarre Fish of the Deep) is his first animated feature film.
Director, animator, illustrator and storyboard artist, Rosana Urbes develops animated films, books and workshops at her production company “Planta Filmes” in São Paulo. She directed and animated “Guida”, an animated film that has won over 70 awards and participated in national and international festivals, including Animamundi, Annecy Int FF and Havana Int FF.. She worked for 8 years on animated feature films abroad and in 2025 released the short film “Safo”, at the Annecy Int Film Festival, where it was awarded the Cristal Alexeieff Parker.
